The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany at Jordan, Bertram von Moltke, visited the German Jordanian University, for the aim of getting to know GJU, its establishment, its latest programs, and its role in developing the process of higher education at the regional level and deepening the bilateral relations between Jordan and Germany.
GJU’s President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, indicated during his reception the guest on the university’s objective to prepare highly skilled graduates with relevant knowledge of the industry, to contribute positively to socio-economic development, to be able to survive today's fiercely competitive and technologically oriented world, and to boost the industrial and economic standing of Jordan and the region.
Prof. Al-Halhouli stressed on GJU’s interest in strengthening the German dimension through teaching the German Language at the German Language Center (GLC), the German year that the students spend in Germany at the German universities, factories and companies, reviewing the university's academic programs, new tracks, and the new majors for the current year, especially nursing, and hosted programs in social work and hydrogen engineering technology in cooperation with the University of Würzburg.
On the other hand, Moltke learned during the visit about the EDU-SYRIA Project, run by GJU with the support of the European Union, which provides scholarships for Syrian refugees and Jordanians in areas affected by asylum, about the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH) and its role in encouraging a culture of entrepreneurship at GJU and the society and incubating entrepreneurial projects, in addition to its interest in increasing the number of companies organizing the dual studies program. Moltke as well learned about the tasks of the German Language Center (GLC), the International Affairs Department (IAD) and the Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA).
