Amman- 17 July 2022

Academic member Dr. Mohammad Khanfar from the School of Medical Applied Sciences (SAMS), the Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering Department at the German Jordanian University (GJU), visited Hochschule RheinMain – Campus Rüsselsheim (HSRM) within the Erasmus+ program to exploring the different opportunities between the department and HSRM.

Khanfar was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Michael Ballhorn. He toured HSRM facilities and presented a short presentation about GJU and the different activities that are attractive to the HSRM students, such as mobility programs and exchange semesters. The academic staff attended the talk. They discussed options of common interest, such as flying faculty and network meeting.

Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Schönfeld coordinated another session with Environmental Engineering M.Sc. students. The students joined the meeting to explore the different available options. Teaching staff also joined the session.

Khanfar stated that several points of interest were discussed during the session such as the participation of HSRM students in mobility programs, study groups, and pre-planned activities that are within 1-2 weeks, the possibility of one exchange semester at GJU with a period of 3 months or part of a semester, also the involvement of teaching staff in the DAAD funded flying faculty program to teach courses at the GJU. For the master's students, the option of performing part of their research work at GJU was demonstrated.

Besides attending lab sessions, a discussion of similarities and differences among teaching styles at the two institutes took place. Khanfar’s visit to HSRM could not be complete without the talk with Prof.Dr. Birgit Scheppat and the tour to the Hydrogen lab where Scheppat welcomed all the possible collaboration opportunities.

It is worth mentioning that the visit was a success and the desired objectives have been fulfilled. Khanfar thanked the Erasmus+ program for funding the visit and for their role in networking with academic institutes.
