Amman- 19 December 2021

The German Jordanian University (GJU) signed an agreement with HELP Logistics as part of their efforts to address the logistics skills gap in the Humanitarian sector in the Middle East to fund two rounds of the Humanitarian Logistics Diploma Program (HLDP) in 2021 and 2022.

The announcement was made during a signing ceremony that was held at the GJU campus on Tuesday the 16th of November, in the presence of President of GJU Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, Vice Presidents Prof. Ralf Rosskopf, Prof. Malek Alsharairi and HELP Logistics Middle East Regional Director, Alia Gharaibeh, HELP Logistics Project Manager, Farah Moghrabi,  Dean of the School of  Management and Logistic Sciences (SMLS) Dr. Muhannad Atmeh and the coordinators of the projects Dr. Ismail Abushaikha and Dr. Luay Jum'a from -Logistic Sciences Department.

The agreement follows the successful launch of the first round of the diploma in 2021, which was offered to 20 practitioners from 11 different NGOs in the Middle East, and received an overwhelmingly positive response from both faculty and participants.

The HLDP is the first program of its kind in the Middle East. It uses a competency-based approach that combines theory and practice to equip practitioners from both the humanitarian and commercial sectors with applied knowledge in logistics and supply chain management in the humanitarian context. The program is delivered in collaboration with leading academics and supply chain experts through instructor-led online seminars, a practice-based graduation project and a capstone simulation exercise on humanitarian supply chains.

Participants of the first round of the diploma are currently working on their graduation projects, which aim to address key challenges in the humanitarian sector. The second round of the diploma starts later this December.
