The Career Guidance Office of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development in cooperation with the German Jordanian University organized the 3rd Jordan Olympiad informatics in the presence of Professor Natheer Abu Obeid, President of GJU.  

Jordan Olympiad informatics is the qualifying round for the world final competition in programming for school students all over the world. JOI is an annual competitive programming competition for secondary school students.

The representative of Jordan in the International Olympiad informatics Dr.Mowaffaq Hanandeh said that Jordan Olympiad  informatics was organized and supported by the Career Guidance Office of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development in order to participate in the International Olympiad informatics, which was launched in 1989 and only five Arab countries could participate. 

He added that 83 students from all schools in Jordan have participated in the Olympiad, emphasizing that this Olympiad is an effort to further the field of IT amongst young adults. It helps them to evaluate their own strength.

At the end of the competition, Abu Obeid distributed the certificates and awards to the first 10 students in the Olympiad.

The contest consists of computer programming and problem-solving of algorithmic nature. To deal with problems involving very large amounts of data, it is necessary to have not only programmers, "but also creative coders, who can dream up what it is that the programmers need to tell the computer to do the hard part isn't the programming, but the mathematics underneath it. Students at the JOI compete on an individual basis.
