On Sunday 29th of October 2017, the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE), at German Jordanian University (GJU) hosted the Arab- German Young Academy of Science and Humanities (AGYA), in the presence of Vice- President of International Affairs Prof. Dorit Schuman.

During the workshop Schuman​ told the story of GJU's establishment indicating that it is a success story and the fruit of the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn al-Hussein and the German political leadership.

The AGYA public event “Storytelling Entangled between Entertainment and Education” started with a keynote speech on “Gaming as a Form of Modern Storytelling”, then the topic of storytelling is explored from different angles in the form of a panel discussion, including the aspects of storytelling in pre-modern Islamic times, in modern Jordan, storytelling as teaching methods, and as a way of science communication. 

AGYA at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities promotes research cooperation among outstanding early-career researchers from all disciplines who are affiliated with a research institution in Germany or any Arab country.

The academy provides partnership-building opportunities and funding to support the innovative projects of its members in various fields of research as well as in science policy and education.

More than 50 members – in equal number Arab and German scholars – have been selected to join AGYA since 2013, they have realized joint projects and initiatives in the framework of six interdisciplinary Working Groups: Arab and German Education; Common Heritage and Common Challenges; Energy, Water and Environment; Health and Society; Innovation; and Transformation.
