The German Jordanian University (GJU) inaugurated the Energy Efficiency Training Program of the German Energy Academy in Jordan, which comes within the project to support the energy partnership with Jordan, supported by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

During the opening ceremony, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), Eng. Amani Al-Azzam, the President of GJU, Prof. Ala'aldeen Al- Halhouli, pointed out the importance of the program in refining the skills of workers in the energy field and providing them with practical knowledge that helps them find suitable job opportunities.

Dr. Al-Halhouli indicated that the Academy came to collect and organize efforts among the competent authorities as GJU's vision stresses creating partnerships and serving the local community to assist national priorities.

For his part, the project coordinator, Dr. Ayman Batayneh, indicated that the program was prepared to be certified by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), by which the participants will acquire the practical skills necessary to enter the labor market as certified technicians and engineers in the field of energy efficiency, management, and energy audit.

During the two-month training program, participants will be trained theoretically and practically on the topics of energy efficiency, its hierarchy, electric tariffs, energy consumption control, challenges and obstacles to achieving energy efficiency, and other subjects to enable them to master the profession of energy auditing and management in accordance with the Jordanian professional competency standards.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Dean of the School of Natural Resources and its management (SNREM), Dr. Qassem Abdel-Aal, representatives from the Amman Chamber of Industry, GIZ, and the National Electric Power Company.
