The School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL), ​​in cooperation with the Consulting and Training Center (CTC) and the International Projects Office (IPO) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), inaugurated the Arabic language and culture program for a group of German students who represent several partner universities in Germany, in the presence of the Director Regional Office of German Academic Exchange Service in Amman (DAAD), Benjamin Schmaling.

Schmaling delivered a speech in which he urged the students to live a distinct cultural and study experience in Jordan, learn and interact with students through language and culture.

During the ceremony, several speeches were delivered. Dr. Jochen Pleines explained to the attendees virtually from Germany his experience with the program and the continuity of cooperation in the language learning between the German and Jordanian sides. Furthermore, Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid urged students to develop aspects of the language they wish to learn.

The Program Coordinator and the Dean of Student Affairs at GJU, Dr. Thelal Oweis, indicated that the program began in cooperation with DAAD in 2014 and has received about three hundred students.

It is noteworthy that fourteen students participated in the program this year at the intermediate level of the Arabic language, where they study the colloquial dialect in the first two weeks and then move to the Standard Arabic program, which continues until the end of the first semester. The program also includes cultural activities and field visits to familiarize the students with cultural and heritage sites and the history of Jordan.
