The Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized the fifth Dual Studies Company Day in the presence of the President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli , the Vice President, Prof. Malek Alsharairi , the Dean of DI-TECH, Dr. Nidal Al-Shawawreh, and the Head of Component, Labour Market Oriented Vocational Education, Higher Education, and Training – MOVE-HET, GIZ, Dr. Wolfgang Frohberg,  General Director of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, industrial partners and students of the Program.

 

During the opening, Dr. Al-Halhouli indicated that the German Year deepens the applied and practical approach and contributes to building local and international industrial partnerships, adding that the Dual Studies Program is a qualitative and additional reinforcement of GJU's teaching model where students begin to acquire practical experiences and the necessary and diverse skills in their field of specialization since the first academic year.

 

Dr. Al-Halhouli stated that the university is working hard with companies for the continuous development of the program in terms of content, research, training, and capacity-building to harmonize between the requirements of companies and the labor market and the program's desired outputs of education, research, community service and contribution to supporting the national economy.

For his part, Dr. Al-Shawawra stated that the program is a revolution in higher education due to its endeavor to bridge the gap between the industrial sector and educational outputs, praising the partners' support and belief in it and their valuable contributions to support, effective integration, and continuous development.

Moreover, Dr. Froberg showed the benefits of the program to companies, students, and universities and the importance of communication and reducing the distances between all parties, such as supporting research, benefiting from university services, and increasing employment opportunities for students.

In turn, Dr. Abdullah indicated that the time has come to move education to another level and involve the industrial sector in the teaching process due to its importance in giving students’ confidence and providing them with skills and experiences that prepare them for the post-graduation stage.

During the opening ceremony, a discussion session was held with the participation of Dr. Al-Halhouli and Dr. Al-Shawawra, during which ideas, challenges, and ways of development were discussed. Certificates were also handed over to the new partners, namely Al Ameed Coffee Company, DigiZag, Dorsch International Consultants GmbH, Gulf Insurance Group, Grand Hyatt Amman, Housing Bank, Jordan Uranium Mining Company, MG Motor Jordan, Modern Hydraulic Systems Co., Turath Architecture & Urban Design Consultancy, Turquoise Mountain Foundation, Wizard Cyber limited, Zaki Sayed Ahmad and Associates Architects and Consultants, bringing the number of companies to 79 partner companies from various industries and the number of majors to fourteen in the dual studies program.

It is worth noting that the exhibition, which witnessed the participation of more than two hundred male and female students, brought together industrial partners with university students affiliated with the program to get acquainted with the companies' work and submit their CVs.
