The German Jordanian University (GJU) and the Income and Sales Tax Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation between the two parties in the professional, scientific, and tax fields.

The MoU, which was signed on behalf of GJU by its president, Prof. Alaa'eldeen Al-Halhouli, and General Director of the department, Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, specified the exchange of scientific and technical expertise, training programs in tax representation in cooperation with the Tax Institute of the Income and Sales Tax Department. According to the memorandum, the two sides would study the possibility of offering a joint study program for the higher diploma in tax accounting.

Dr. Al-Halhouli indicated that the university aspires to be an applied international university and a pioneer in education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community service. In addition, to graduate competencies to enter the local, regional and global labor market, pointing out that the employment rate for GJU graduates reaches 96 percent during the first year of their graduation.

Dr. Al-Halhouli referred to the university's efforts to expand its partnerships in Jordan and Germany, the importance of the fourth year students spend in German universities and industry, and the possibility of cooperation in the Dual Studies program.

For his part, Dr. Abu Ali delivered a lecture entitled "Tax reforms taking place in the Income and Sales Tax Department and Tax Justice", during which he reviewed the axes of combating tax evasion and tax avoidance, enhancing tax compliance, improving tax services for committed taxpayers, and projects to be implemented for the tax reform plan.

The lecture was attended by the Vice President of GJU, Prof. Prof. Malek Alsharairi, Director of the Consultation and Training Center (CTC), Abdul Hakim Arabiyat, students, academic and administrative members, the media spokesman in the department, Musa Al-Tarawneh, and Raghad Al-Akroush.
