On 22nd of May 2017, German Jordanian University (GJU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Department of Antiquities of Jordan (DoA), in order for both sides to joint efforts in the field of research and exchange facilities, knowledge and expertise.

The memo was signed by Director General, Department of Antiquities Dr. Monther Jamhawi, on behalf of DOA and Professor Natheer Abu Obeid on behalf of GJU.

Abu Obeid said that DoA proved to become an honorable department through their activities and significant achievements that all Jordanian should be proud of.

From his side Jamhawi mentioned the previous meetings with GJU when they initiated Architectural Conservation Master Program appreciating the great support and assistance from the university and DAAD that allowed them to be positive and confident to achieve more.

According to the MoU, DoA will provide the staff and students with Joint Research, access and use of laboratories, use of resources at DoA such as: main archive, center for studies of heritage conservation, library, database at DoA for research purposes.

While GJU will provide 2 scholarships from available scholarships, exchange the knowledge through lectures, symposium, and part time teaching, and provide a suitable space for DoA to host events through venues and mutual organization.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of The School of Architecture and Built Environment Dr. Ziad Hadad and Vice Dean Dr. Maram AlTaweel besides presentative from DoA.
