Germany has an increasing need for skilled and qualified labor since a significant number of open positions cannot be filled due to the lack of skilled labor (“Fachkräftemangel”). The German government has therefore introduced several legislative changes and measures to make it easier for foreign skilled workers to enter the German labor market. Despite these facilitations, it can still be challenging to find the right job and obtain a work visa.

To support GJU graduates in their search and application process for careers in Germany, the German Jordanian University (GJU) built up strong relationships with different stakeholders in Germany and is offering special information events together with these German partners.

The first event was implemented together with the International and Specialized Services (ZAV) of the Federal Employment Agency (BA). Around 70 motivated participants from GJU received detailed information about the different types of work visa, language requirements, application processes and potential fields of work, especially in the demanded jobs in IT and Engineering. A Q/A session concluded the Webinar and the participants were invited to send their CV for individual advice and register with the agency for further support.

The next event focused on opportunities for engineers in the state of Baden-Württemberg in collaboration with Apontis / Bildungswerk Baden-Württemberg (BIWE), ZAV, and BA. The numerous participants were introduced to a special project “Engineers from GJU for Baden- Württemberg” that BIWE and GJU have been developed especially for GJU graduates to provide engineers with job opportunities in Baden- Württemberg and to accompany them on the way from application to employment.

Both events were part of GJU’s initiative to promote employment in Germany organized by the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH). DI-TECH also compiled detailed information on 'Work in Germany' on its website as a helpful source for graduates interested in a career in Germany. The series of events about topics around employment in Germany will be continued. Stay tuned!
