On Wednesday, 8th of February 2017, Prof. Natheer Abu obeid the President of GJU, sponsored a ceremony of graduation for the first patch of the Professional Diploma of Social Work: “Migration and Refugees” which was organized by the Social Work Department at the School of Applied Humanities and Languages and the Consultation and Training Center at GJU.

Prof. Natheer Abu obeid thanked the German Embassy and Social work Department, for their great effort to accomplish such a huge and challenging work.  He considered this Diploma as a healing process, especially in the middle of the insanity that we are witnessing in the area and the whole world.

He said that he is very proud, that GJU is the first institution to offer this subject because, when it comes to humanity issues like migration and refugees, GJU’s mission and vision become very clear.

Abu obeid declared that GJU has several plans to teach refugees, in addition to transforming this Diploma to a master program in the future.

At the end of his speech, he congratulated the students and teachers, for their hard work despite the hardships and challenges.

Dr. Sahar Makhamreh, the head of Social work Department, said that she is very glad to reach to this stage, and thanked the president and all colleagues for their support. Speaking to the audience about the different challenges, they faced during the period of this course, she assured that without the positive spirit of the team nothing could be achieved.

Ms. Hala Abu Obeid, one of the graduates spoke on behalf of her colleagues, expressing her enjoyment of this course, where she got the chance to learn and work with students from different backgrounds, specialties, and nationalities.  

At the end of the ceremony, a short video was displayed to present the student’s activities during the term, after that Prof. Natheer Abu obeid handed out the certificates to the graduates.
