On Tuesday the 22nd of August, the School of Basic Sciences and Humanities, represented by the school Dean Dr. Akeel Qazwini, invited Prof. Manar Fayyad, the President of German Jordanian University to be a guest speaker to deliver a lecture entitled “Women and Leadership”.
Dr. Fayyad, shared her personal and academic journey with students and academic staff, highlighting the most distinguished phases throughout her journey, starting from her early beginning as a student in Jordan, till she won a scholarship that enabled her to continue her higher education in Germany.
In her motivational speech she sparked a lot of enthusiasm and support to women, it emphasized the importance of equality between men and women in order to guarantee a future full of prosperity for upcoming generations in order to make sure that women will be equally represented in all aspects of life.
During the lecture Dr. Fayyed has answered a lot of questions from students and academic staff related to women role in leadership, stressing the importance of women involvement in all fields of development and also the necessity of working hard and perseverance in order to occupy higher positions.
Dr. Fayyad resume has a lot of accomplishments in the field of Chemistry as well as in the practical field, she is the head of the higher committee for Water Quality in Jordan/Ministry of Water and Irrigation, and recently, she has been appointed officially as the president of the German Jordanian University, besides wining the Arab Woman Award in Science and Technology for Development in 2014 in the field of environmental sciences.
It is worthy to mention that Professor. Fayyad, is considered to be a role model for every Jordanian woman aspiring to have her own footprint. She is mother, a professor and also a president, she holds different positions and has a lot of responsibilities.
Nevertheless, she can balance between her social life and her job duties.
