The German Jordanian University (GJU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Jordan in order to enhance and promote the collaborations between the academic and practical knowledge in the field of social work with  refugee and migration issues.

The MoU was signed by the President of German Jordanian University Professor Natheer Abu Obeid on behalf of the university, and United Nations Children’s Fund Country representative Mr. Robert Jenkins on behalf of UNICEF- Jordan.   

The MoU provides that the two parties exchange knowledge and expertise to strengthen their efforts in the field of refugee and migration. This in terms of students, developing professionals skills and collaborate in conducting or implementing research.  Also agreed upon participating when needed on  developing the curriculum of the study program "Professional Diploma in Social work:  Migration and Refugees ”, or conducting symposiums and scientific meetings, or  organizing training courses and improving staff efficiency and effectiveness.  

The signing was attended by the GJU Vice President for International Affairs Professor. Dorit Schumann, and the Dean of School of Applied Humanities and Languages Dr. Jochen Pleines and Dr.Sahar AlMakhamreh , the Head of Social Work Department as well as representatives from UNICEF. Mr Muhammad Rafiq Khan /Child Protection Specialist and Ms Mariam AlQassem.
