After some welcoming words by the host, Prof. Dr. Dagmar Eisermann and by Dr. Maram Tawil the dean of the school, followed by a brief introduction of all participants, Prof. Dr. Ralf Rosskopf GJUs Vice President started the meeting online with some updates that GJU had undergone throughout the pandemic, including changes in digitalization and the new German Language Concept. This general introduction was followed by an introduction to the school by the schools dean Dr. Maram Tawil and followed by some updates on department development by Arch. After this an open discussion was held between all participants on topics such as the development of the new film track in the design department for which more seats will be needed and the general prospect of more exchange, both on students and teaching level, online and in person with a focus also on blended learning.

The discussion was followed by different presentations by the German partners which were held online, such as a project on “International Virtual Academic Collaboration” by Prof. Claudia Aymar, HS Rhein-Main, and presentations by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eberhard Möller from  HS Karlsruhe (architectural design, structural design, structural engineering) and Prof. Tatjana Vautz, Dipl.-Ing. Arch. from Frankfurt UAS.

A joint meeting of the design department with the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (SEEIT) took place online the next day in order to discuss the “Media Informatics Program” between the two schools. Furthermore alumni experiences and current projects were presented by graduates of both departments (Lubna Sukhni for Architecture and Murad Abu Eisheh for Design).

The meeting concluded with intentions from all sides to use this turning point after the pandemic to further interlink and expand the network  and to look towards expanding collaboration on multiple  levels.
