This year’s network meetings of the School of Applied Technical Science and the School of Natural Resources, Engineering and Management took place simultaneously last week at GJU Madaba Campus, hosted by the respective schools at GJU and benefitting from the use of GJU`s digital classrooms. The events took place from 10th  to 11th  of October 2022.

The dean of GJU`s School of Natural Resources, Dr. Qasem Abdelal, joint the SNREM network meeting together with the SNREM exchange coordinators Dr. Mustafa Jaradat (Energy Engineering), Eng. Abeer Abuothman and Eng. Fatimeh Al-Hadidi (Civil and Environmental Engineering).The meeting was moderated by the network head Prof. Dr. Thorsten Schmidt (HS Magdeburg- Stendal) as well as by Dr. Monica Heitz from Project Office Magdeburg who also travelled to GJU for the meetings.

The different German partner universities such as HTWK Leipzig, DBFZ, University of Rostock  and HS Munich were represented  in person to join the discussions. After some updates from the departments and insight into the graduate programs developments the an important focal point of the meeting was the GJU research cluster.

The SATS network meeting was also joint by the dean of the school, Dr. Prof. Iyas Khader as well as the exchange coordinators Dr. Sameer Al-Dahidi (MECH), Dr. Sahar Qadan (ME), and Dr. Maysa Ammouri (IE). The network speaker, Prof. Dr. Rolf Biesenbach (HS Bochum) was also present in person, as well as the German partner institutions who`s representatives travelled to GJU in person from EAH Jena, DHBW Mosbach, HS Bochum and HS RheinMain. The SATS network meeting emphasized topics for discussion such as the Dual Study Program and the envisioned Joint MECH Master Program as well as providing the network members with a general update on department developments and an introduction to the industry 4.0 lab at SATS.

Prof. Dr. Reiner Finkeldey, GJU Vice President for International Affairs, joint both network meetings for an update on GJU developments of the last year and joint the SNREM meeting for most of the duration of the event. The network coordinator Iris Wildfeuer from the International Affairs Department was also present and supported the SATS network meeting.

On the second day of the network meetings a joint session was held between both networks in which future oriented topics such as Hydrogen Energy and Artificial Intelligence were discussed. Both networks were able to integrate a visit to their respective laboratories at the schools and GJU alumni student testimonials in the agenda of their meetings.

The network members were further able to participate in an industry visit to “Fine Hygienic Holding” a local production company of paper-based products such as tissues, jumbo rolls hygiene products for babies and adults and packaging. The company is a valuable long-term industrial partner of GJU and takes part in GJUs Dual Study Program. This industry visit concluded two very fruitful days of networking and discussions, complemented by the agreement on the date and time of the next network meetings for SATS and SNREM in 2023.
