Amman- 18 January 2022

The Energy Engineering Department at the School of Natural Resources Engineering Management (SNREM) represented by Dr. Aiman Albatayneh, in cooperation with the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership, set up multiple wall panels in the corridors of the Energy Engineering Department illustrating the energy scene in Germany.

The panels explain Germany’s ongoing energy transition by means of engaging content in Arabic language, highlighting its experiences in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency; innovative energy policies and its ongoing strive towards a climate-neutral economy.

The information on the panels display Germany’s Energiewende which means energy transformation. The German Energiewende is the country’s ambitious plan to phase out traditional fossil fuels and shift to low-carbon, sustainable, and affordable energy resources. The panels are part of an energy exhibition funded by the Federal Foreign Office further information about the exhibition shared on its website Energy in Transition – Powering Tomorrow: Home (energiewende-global.com)

This plan was put into action and demonstrated by a complete restructure of Germany’s energy sector, encouraging other countries to follow suit and do the same. Thus, The Federal German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) established Energy Partnerships in several countries, including Jordan. The Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany signed a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDoI) to establish the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership in April 2019.

The role of the Energy Partnership is to facilitate high-level expert exchange between the two countries by connecting representatives of government, industry, civil society, and academia to support the energy transition of both countries.
