The Social Work Department at the School of Applied Humanities and Languages of GJU organized a welcoming meeting for the students of the second term of the Professional Diploma in Migration and Refugees in order to introduce the students to the program and lecturers, and give them the chance to get to know each other.

Duing the meeting that was attended by the GJU Vice President for International Affairs Prof. Dorit Schumann and guests from Germany as well as the Program lectures, Dr. Sahar Makhamreh head of the Social Work department spoke to students about the program courses, to be well-prepared for these courses, and how the need of balance is  particularly important for social work students.

For her part. Prof. Schumann welcomed the new students and expressed her delight to see such a diversity since the program is targeting not only international students, but also Jordanians,  and the Syrian Refugees , wishing them the best of luck on all their endeavors.

It is worthy to mention that this diploma offers an understanding of refugees and migrants in context of conflicts and socio-political change. It aims at providing information and practical knowledge in a limited and manageable period of time.

It will also provide a critical understanding of the theoretical and conceptual foundations of migration and refugees as well as a focus on practical knowledge, and will examine the UN and other international, national and civil society organizational strategies, frameworks and mechanisms.
