GEBC (German and English for Business and Communication) students from the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL) visited Zain Jordan and received an orientation on how the company works to offer people mobile and internet network services.

Zain is a Jordanian private mobile telephone network operator and a telecommunication and technology company. Upon GEBC students arrival at Zain headquarters, the students were welcomed and invited to a brief introduction about branding by two employees from the branding department. The students learned what Zain’s logo represents and the history behind its swirl logo. Then the meaning of the name Zain was explained to them as a beautiful world. The students were then given another brief presentation by an employee from the advertising department. This presentation focused on introducing the students to the importance of culture and social media in the advertising strategy of Zain and the challenges the company faces as result of the uncontrolled environmental factors such as traditions, political situation in the region, and culture. Thereafter, the students were briefed about how the public relations department plays an important role in promoting Zain locally through local media channels such as radio shows, TV, newspapers, and online media. The type of news covered by this department is about Zain’s contribution to society at a local level in terms of sponsoring events and local charities and other social programs in Jordan. Keeping in line with Zain’s message of closeness to nature and people, Zain also has a radio show program that airs on Radio Hala Sunday through Thursday from 4-5pm.  Last but not least, Zain’s human resources department gave the students a brief overview on how the company operates at an internal level. This includes the internal activities the company tries to promote among its employees and thus maintain a teamwork environment that reflects the closeness message Zain ensures to display at all times.

The employees explained how the company plays a vital role in ensuring that every individual is offered a simple, high quality, and fast network operating service. The students were then briefed about the company’s objectives, operational and functional strategies, accomplishments so far, and its future projects.

At the end of the presentations, the students were given a chance to ask questions regarding network services and the professional opportunities the company could provide them with as students and graduates in the field of communication. The opportunities Zain discussed with the students covered internship and future job opportunities where their competences will be fully utilized and thus would definitely foster a high class communication service in the future.
