Under the Patronage of his Royal Highness Prince Al-Hassan Bin Talal , the “Arab Thought Forum” in cooperation with the “Social Research and Consulting Center London” (SCR) opened the 5th International Conference, titled" Contemporary trends in educational institutions…Reform ... Development", Jordan on the (18th -20th) of April 2016.
Dr.Abdallah Abdallah; Assistant to the president, and Mr.Raed Gaddah ;Deanship of Students Affairs, accompanied with a group of the University's students attended the opening of the conference. Dr. Thelal Oweis from the School of Applied Humanities and Languages represented the university in the conference with a research paper entitled " Empowering Teachers through Action Research".
The paper focuses on the fact that many educationalists insist that teachers should be encouraged and supported to become researchers in their own classrooms. The paper sheds light on the importance of training teachers in the field of action research, and the obstacles that may face them along with some suggested solutions. The paper ends up with some recommendations addressed to educationalists, teaching professionals and decision makers in Jordan.
The Conference included several axes, the first shed light on education in general,the second axis focused on the contents and dimensions of the reform and development of higher education and the challenges faced, the third axis discussed social responsibility of higher education, and cultural role of higher education institutions, while the fourth axis was devoted to special education. The fifth axis dealt with environmental education in public schools and universities and the sixth axis dealt with the role of media in the reform of higher education institutions
