Amman-15 November 2017

On Wednesday, 15th of November 2017, a German delegation visited German Jordanian University (GJU) to meet with GJU’s students in order to give them an introduction about the International Parliament Scholarship (IPS).

President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad welcomed the guests giving them an introduction about GJU since establishment in 2005 upon an agreement signed between the government of Jordan and the government of Germany.

She explained that GJU aims to play a significant role in promoting links between Jordan and Europe, particularly Germany, and how GJU could in the last few years to position itself as a leading institution of higher learning that’s dedicated to service, innovation, academic management and human resources development.

During the meeting a film projection and presentation about the IPM was presented by member of the German Parliament Mr. Johannes Kahrs, besides a report of experience by Noor Al-Haymoni, while the Head of International Office at Humboldt University of Berlin Ursula Hans conducted a presentation about study in Berlin.

The IPS program is designed to provide insights into the German parliamentary process in order to foster international understanding and promote peace and cooperation.

The German Bundestag offers a scholarship program for politically interested young Arab graduates who are keen to learn more about the German parliamentary system and want to play an active role in promoting core democratic values in their home countries.

The program’s core element is a week-long work placement in the office of a Member of the German Bundestag. It also focuses on information regarding the German parliamentary system, along with lectures, workshops and seminars on German history and culture, religious freedom, minority issues and dealing with experiences of dictatorships (the Nazi dictatorship and SED dictatorship).
