Amman- 7 March 2018

On Tuesday 6th of March 2018, under the patronage of Director of Jordanian Society for Scientific Research Prof. Anwar Battikhi the German Jordanian University celebrated the “National Tree Day”, in the presence of the President of GJU Prof Manar Fayyad, Vice-President Dr. Atef Al-Kharabsheh along with GJU students, staff and local community.

Battikhi explained that this celebration is a national tradition in Jordan for 79 years to encourage people to protect and care for the trees for its tremendous role in not only all life aspects but also life itself, encouraging attendees to assist in transforming Jordan to a green country.

Fayyad said that the national tree day is a global celebration to remind the world with the importance of trees as a vital part of nature, mentioning that GJU maintains to celebrate this occasion every year to recognize the trees’ value and beauty as well.

She also appreciated the participation of society members and GJU’s community especially the Office of the Advisor to the President for Community Affairs and General Services Department in assisting in providing a healthy atmosphere for GJU’s students and employees.

At the end of the celebration attended by Agriculture Chairman Engineer Mahmoud Abu Ghunaima and former Director of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development Salem Al-Lozi, GJU’s community contributed in planting 300 tree at the main campus of GJU.
