Member of the German Bundestag, Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with Arabic-Speaking Countries in the Middle East, Dr. Christoph Ploß, visited the German Jordanian University (GJU) to learn about the GJU, its achievements, and its role in promoting cooperation between Jordan and Germany.

During the meeting with the guest at the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) on Jabal Amman campus, The President of the GJU, Prof. Ala'aldeen Al- Halhouli, indicated that the University is a bright model for relations and a cultural bridge linking Jordan with Germany and Europe. Al-Halhouli referred to GJU's strategy for 2022 and beyond to strengthen its position as an international university of applied sciences and a leader in education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, community service, and to be a role model in strengthening bridges between Germany, Jordan, and the world.

For his part, Ploß indicated that his visit to Jordan aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and that the German Jordanian University is one of the most important educational projects that contributed to strengthening these relations.

In turn, the Dean of SABE, Dr. Maram Al-Taweel, presented the role of the School in preserving and reviving the architectural and cultural heritage in Jabal Amman. 

Al-Taweel said that the School's work demonstrates GJU's responsibility in serving the community and developing heritage places to be a source of cultural and intellectual radiation that embraces university professors and students in an interactive atmosphere that reminds them of Amman and its old neighborhoods and motivates them to build a gathering of distinctive arts and designs.

At the end of the meeting, which was attended by faculty members, former president of GJU, Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid, Dr. Raed Al-Tal, Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, and Dr. Nabil Abu Dieah, the guest toured the campus including Darat Ibrahim Hashem and the German Lounge, which was established in cooperation with the Institute of Goethe.
