About
The Arabic Language and Culture Center (ALCC) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) offers structured Arabic programs designed to develop the four core language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The curriculum combines Modern Standard Arabic, colloquial varieties, and Arabic for Special Purposes, integrating grammar and cultural elements to help students understand both formal Arabic used in academic contexts and the everyday language spoken by communities.
Courses are delivered onsite at GJU’s campuses in Amman, at partner institutions abroad (e.g., Germany), and online, through individual or group sessions, providing flexible and immersive learning experiences. Learning goes beyond the classroom: students participate in cultural and community-based activities such as excursions, calligraphy, cooking, film days, and volunteer initiatives. The program also offers training opportunities with local and international organizations, ensuring that students gain a comprehensive set of linguistic, cultural, and practical experiences.
Supervised by expert instructors, ALCC uses a variety of instructional materials developed by GJU’s specialized team, supplemented with textbooks, podcasts, videos, songs, and online tools. Technology-equipped classrooms further enhance learning outcomes. Placement tests align students with their appropriate proficiency levels according to CEFR and ACTFL, covering all levels from beginner to advanced. Guided by dedicated instructors, the Center integrates language, culture, and real-life experiences to provide a holistic and authentic Arabic learning journey.
