Amman- 17 October 2022

The new semester began for around 780 first-year students at the GJU with a two-week intensive course in German as a foreign language.

With 35 teachers and in groups of 22 to 23 learners each, the students, who until then had had no contact with the German language, were introduced to learning the language interactively in five hours per day. After just a few days, one could hear a "Guten Morgen" on the GJU campus or students joyfully practicing short dialogues in German with their classmates.

Each of the 35 pre-courses was accompanied by selected dedicated Teaching Assistants from the GJU student body, who assisted the teachers in the classroom and shared their first-hand experience as a GJU student with the newcomers.

We wish all freshmen at the GJU to keep the motivation to learn German even when the study of their subject demands a lot. We hope that they will soon proudly hold their B1 certificate or even a higher language qualification from the B2 track in their hands to start successfully the promising "German Year".
