As part of its commitment to strengthening community engagement and empowering young people to play an active role in serving society, the German Jordanian University (GJU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Educational College Alumni Club Association to implement the "An Hour Makes a Difference" initiative. The partnership aims to foster a culture of volunteerism and social impact by channeling students' talents and efforts into meaningful initiatives with lasting community benefits.
The MoU was signed on behalf of GJU President Prof. Dr. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, while Eng. Abdul Rahim Al-Baqa'i, President of the Islamic Educational College Alumni Club Association, signed on behalf of the Association.
The agreement reflects the Royal directives aimed at empowering Jordanian youth and strengthening their role as active partners in the nation's development. It also aligns with the shared mission of both institutions to support national initiatives, promote social responsibility, and cultivate a sustainable culture of organized volunteerism and community service among young people.
Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will collaborate to integrate the "An Hour Makes a Difference" initiative into the University environment by encouraging students, faculty members, and administrative staff to participate. The initiative promotes dedicating part of one's time and effort to volunteer and community service activities that create a meaningful and sustainable positive impact.
The partnership also includes promoting the initiative's official registration platform, sharing awareness and promotional materials through the digital platforms and media channels of both parties, and encouraging members of the University community and the wider local community to register and actively engage in the initiative's activities.
In addition, the two parties will cooperate in organizing joint volunteer, awareness, and community outreach activities, while highlighting inspiring youth success stories that showcase students' contributions to creating positive social impact. The agreement also provides for the professional and authorized use of the initiative's name and logo in accordance with the applicable legal and institutional frameworks.
As part of its commitments, GJU will support the initiative across its campus by promoting it among students, faculty, and administrative staff, encouraging participation, and providing media coverage through its official communication channels. The Islamic Educational College Alumni Club Association, in turn, will provide the initiative's organizational framework, share best practices and successful community engagement experiences, and support and prepare students to become ambassadors for positive social impact.
The Memorandum of Understanding aims to empower young people to transform ideas into impactful initiatives, strengthen the values of national belonging and social responsibility, and establish volunteerism as a sustainable culture that contributes to community development and long-term social progress.
