The President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), Prof. Dr. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, received the President of the Jordan Academy for Public Administration (JAPA), H.E. Dr. Mustafa Hamarneh, accompanied by the Academy's Secretary General, Ms. Seham Al-Khawaldeh, to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the areas of training, qualification, capacity building, and the development of competencies within the public sector.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Al-Halhouli reaffirmed the University's commitment to expanding its national partnerships with government institutions, reflecting GJU's mission to support public sector modernization through the delivery of high-quality academic and professional training programs that prepare qualified professionals capable of meeting the evolving demands of institutional development and excellence.
For his part, Dr. Hamarneh commended GJU's distinguished role in delivering practice-oriented education and emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration with the University in designing and implementing professional training programs that address the needs of the public sector. He noted that such cooperation aligns with the Academy's vision of developing government leadership and enhancing the capabilities of public sector human resources.
The discussions also explored prospects for collaboration in delivering specialized training programs and professional diplomas, particularly the Professional Diploma in Public Policy and Public Administration, which is currently offered through a partnership between GJU and the former Institute of Public Administration before its responsibilities were transferred to the Jordan Academy for Public Administration.
The diploma program aims to enhance the capabilities of public sector employees in the fields of public policy and modern public administration. Participants are nominated by various ministries and government institutions through official channels and subsequently undergo a competitive selection process, including qualifying assessments, to ensure that the most outstanding candidates are selected to benefit from the program.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming the importance of building on their existing collaboration and exploring new opportunities to launch specialized training programs and joint initiatives that contribute to improving government performance and strengthening human capital across the public sector, in line with Jordan's public sector modernization priorities.
