The German Jordanian University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, celebrated the 57th anniversary of the Battle of Karameh and Mother’s Day with the participationof GJU’s president, Prof. Alaadeen Al-Halhouli, along with a number of faculty and administrative staff members, as well as students.

In his speech, Prof. Al-Halhouli emphasized the significance of these two occasions, highlighting that the Battle of Karameh was a historic moment in the journey of the valiant Jordanian Arab Army. He praised the heroic soldiers who demonstrated exceptional sacrifice and bravery in defending their land and dignity. He also stressed that this battle sent a clear message that Jordan is protected by the strength of its people and that unwavering determination and strong will can achieve victory, no matter the challenges.

For her part, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Thelal Owais, emphasized the symbolic importance of the Battle of Karameh in reinforcing Jordanian resilience. She pointed out that this day coincides with the celebration of Mother’s Day, an occasion dedicated to honoring Jordanian and Arab mothers for their sacrifices and vital role in raising generations. She also highlighted how mothers have always been at the forefront of building and safeguarding society.

The event included the recitation of two poems: the first, about the Battle of Karameh, was delivered by student Zaid Al-Alawneh, while the second, about motherhood, was recited by student Noura Al-Abbadi. Symbolic gifts and flowers were distributed to mothers on campus, and special videos commemorating the two occasions were displayed. The celebration saw a large turnout of students, faculty, and administrative staff.
