As part of supporting innovation and promoting sustainable development, Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), in collaboration with the Business Development Center (BDC), hosted the event "Green Hackathon" within the framework of the "Green Links" project funded by the European Union.
This hackathon aims to empower and motivate the youth from the Azraq and Zarqa regions to innovate sustainable solutions to address environmental challenges in the fields of energy, water, and agriculture, thus enhancing their role in the transition to a green economy and sustainable development.
On his part, the Vice President of GJU Prof. Malek Alsharairi confirmed that the Green Links project represents an important step in empowering youth and enhancing their role in sustainable development. He explained that this version of the project comes at an exceptional time, aligning with the Economic Modernization Vision, which focuses on supporting the green economy and sustainability. He also emphasized the important role the project plays in developing youth skills and enhancing their participation in building a more sustainable future.
It is expected that this event will result in the launch of 15 green entrepreneurial projects, which will be funded and followed up to ensure their positive impact. It is worth mentioning that the "Green Links" project works on empowering youth in the agricultural and environmental sectors through specialized training programs. About 600 young men and women from Azraq and Zarqa have been trained in various environmental fields, contributing to the enhancement of their skills and their role in achieving sustainable development.
