In line with its commitment to strengthening partnerships with both governmental and community organizations, the German Jordanian University (GJU), through its School of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences, took part in a panel discussion titled “Mental Health in Schools: A Shared Responsibility.” The event was hosted at Al-Dubbat Mixed Secondary School in Mafraq, in collaboration with the Directorates of Education for Qasabat Al-Mafraq, the Northeastern Badia, and the Northwestern Badia.

The panel featured Prof. Dr. Haytham Al-Thawabieh, Dean of the School, who emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the Ministry of Education and GJU. He also praised the efforts of the student organizers involved in the university’s mental health program, which is offered by the Department of Social Work in cooperation with the EDU-Syria program—a European initiative supporting Syrian education—and the GIZ organization.

Also speaking at the event was Dr. Ayoub Al-Mashaqbeh, Director of Education for Qasabat Al-Mafraq, who expressed his appreciation for the ongoing partnership with GJU. He described the collaboration as a significant step forward in bridging academic and governmental efforts, and highlighted the vital role public universities play in engaging with the broader community—an approach embodied by GJU’s outreach efforts.

Other contributors to the discussion included Dr. Bader Al-Madi, Head of the Department of Social Work, and Dr. Tamara Al-Rawwad. The session was moderated by Dr. Hamedallah Al-Khalaileh from the Qasabat Al-Mafraq Directorate.
