
The School of Nursing (SN) at the German Jordanian University (GJU), in cooperation with Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences, MSD – Jordan, and Gene Technology, organized an awareness lecture titled "Understanding Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the Importance of Prevention", aimed at raising health awareness among GJU students and the academic community.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ghazi Sharkas, Public Health and Epidemiology Consultant at Ibn Sina University, who outlined the risks of HPV, noting its role in causing warts and certain types of cancer in both males and females. He emphasized the importance of early screening, vaccination, and public education as a key defense against infection.
Mr. Rami Ahmad, representing MSD – Jordan, provided an overview of the vaccine’s effectiveness, target age groups, and recommended dosage. Ms. Rama Afaneh from Gene Technology offered a detailed explanation of the available diagnostic methods and highlighted the role of technology in enabling accurate and early detection.
Dr. Mayada Daibes, Dean of SN, affirmed the school’s commitment to promoting health education and fostering collaboration with medical institutions in service of students and society, emphasizing the value of such initiatives.
At the conclusion of the event, the visiting team expressed their appreciation for the opportunity, stressing the importance of continued cooperation in spreading health awareness across universities and communities.
