The Department of Design and Visual Communication at the College of Architecture and Built Environment organized a remarkable field trip to Olivewood Studios, offering students an exceptional opportunity to explore one of the region’s leading facilities specializing in film production. The visit included a detailed tour of the studios, where students were introduced to the various stages of film production, from concept development and scriptwriting to production and post-production.

 

A highlight of the visit was the inspiring meeting with renowned Jordanian director Amin Matalqa, the filmmaker behind Captain Abu Raed, one of Jordan’s most celebrated and internationally award-winning films. Matalqa shared his extensive experience in directing and his work in Hollywood, shedding light on the challenges of the industry and emphasizing the importance of creativity in delivering compelling stories to audiences.

 

 

The students expressed their admiration for the creative environment at the studios, gained insight into the modern technical equipment used in filming and production, and acquired practical knowledge about transforming ideas into fully realized cinematic works. The tour was an enriching experience that combined learning and excitement, inspiring the students to explore their creative potential in film production.
