The Community service section at the Support Services Department (SSD) of the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized a specialized training workshop titled 'Electronic Addiction,' targeting 50 school counselors from Princess Basma Secondary School for Girls, under the Madaba Education Directorate, and Manshiyat Hesban Mixed Secondary School.

During the workshop, Eng. Heba Habash, a specialist in family and digital counseling and behavior modification, delivered a focused lecture on the concept of electronic addiction, its causes, symptoms, and effects on academic performance, mental health, and social relationships. She also presented key prevention and treatment strategies.

This workshop marks the first phase of the project, which will be followed by a second phase involving the training of an additional 50 counselors, along with the launch of awareness sessions for school students.

The event was attended by Dr. Talal Abu Alim, Director of the Educational Guidance and Counseling Directorate at the Ministry of Education; Mr. Hayel Al-Hlalat, Head of the Community Service Section at the university; Dr. Yousef Al-Shawabkeh, Director of Madaba Education Directorate; Dr. Haifa Al-Khraisha, representing the Director of Education; Dr. Rabia Al-Fuqaha, Director of Educational Affairs; and Mr. Mohammad Al-Bakkar, Head of the Educational Counseling Department.

This workshop reflects the university’s commitment to its national role in addressing the challenges of electronic addiction and its ongoing cooperation with the local community and the Ministry of Education.
