The German Jordanian University (GJU), in cooperation with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Jordan Chamber of Industry, organized a workshop titled "Enhancing Collaboration between the Academic Sector and the Private Sector in the Jordanian Textile Industry", as part of the activities of the "MENATEX Jordan" project, one of the regional projects supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of integrating academic research with industry needs, and to direct graduation projects and scientific research toward practical solutions that contribute to the local development of the textile sector and enhance its competitiveness and sustainability in the region.

The event was attended by representatives from the Swedish Embassy and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, along with a distinguished group of experts from the industrial and academic sectors, and active participation from faculty members and students of the university, particularly from the School of Architecture and Built Environment and the School of Applied Technical Sciences.

Dr. Al-Atrash, the program coordinator at the university, affirmed that the workshop falls within the university’s efforts to strengthen its partnership with the industrial sector and to align educational outcomes and scientific research with market needs. This contributes to offering innovative solutions to the technical and operational challenges facing the textile sector.

The workshop included presentations by Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, Dr. Murad Samhouri, Eng. Leen Fakhoury, and Ms. Raman Shaban from GJU, as well as Mr. Obieda Abueid from the MENATEX Jordan project and Ms. Lara Rashid from the Jordan Chamber of Industry.

This activity is part of a broader vision to enhance the competitiveness of the textile and garment sector in Jordan by building capacities, supporting small and medium enterprises, and strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors.
