The German Jordanian University (GJU), through the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH), participate in the Maker Collective Exhibition (an initiative of Crown Prince Foundation (CPF)). The event was held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in Al-Hussein Youth City. This pioneering event in Jordan was designed to empower and unite the maker community, providing a platform for innovators to showcase their projects, dive socio-economic development and technological advancement in the region and network with diverse stakeholders from the makers ecosystem.

 

GJU presented three innovative projects, NavBuddy project, developed by students Laith al-Ahmar and Ghassan al-Jayousi, enables individuals with mobility impairments to control robots and wheelchairs through head movements, enhancing mobility and improving daily quality of life. MA3 Project, prepared by GJU alumni, Aws al-Barghouti, Mohannad Mahfouz, Abdulrahman al-Qasrawi and Ahmad al-Hajji, is a breakthrough in local 3D printer manufacturing, focusing on high performance and production efficiency, which enhances the competitiveness of locally produced technology. (Supervised by Dr. Ahmad Alshwawra. EcoFocus, led by students Adnan Kanaan and Hazem Arar, aims to recycle plastic bottles into frames for medical glasses using 3D printing technology. EcoFocus is a living example of environmental innovation by transforming plastic waste into valuable, sustainable products.

 

 

Through initiatives like the Maker Collective, GJU emphasizes its dedication to supporting its students and alumni as they turn their creative ideas into impactful entrepreneurial projects. GJU also reinforces its role as a leading academic institution that bridges theory with practice to prepare students for the labor market. Additionally, this opportunity embodies GJU’s mission to foster creativity and innovation. GJU, moreover, creates new opportunities that bolster the national economy and support future sustainable development in Jordan.
