The German Jordanian University (GJU), represented by the Road Safety Centre of Excellence, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jordanian Society for the Prevention of Road Accidents, aimed at strengthening joint cooperation in the field of road safety awareness and the exchange of expertise and knowledge. The partnership seeks to contribute to improving road safety conditions in the Kingdom, particularly among youth and university students.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the University by its President, Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, and on behalf of the Society by its President, Eng. Wafai Ibrahim Msais, within a shared vision focused on reducing traffic accidents and their impacts, and promoting a culture of safe and sustainable transport.
The MoU aims to implement joint awareness and educational programmes, including the organization of lectures, seminars, and workshops; the utilization of the University’s facilities and technical capabilities; and the engagement of students and youth in activities related to road safety. It also provides for cooperation in organizing conferences, exchanging publications and materials, and participating in events organized by the Society, in line with the objectives of both parties.
The University emphasized that the Road Safety Centre of Excellence serves as a national specialized platform contributing to raising road safety awareness and developing smart and safe transport systems through a comprehensive focus on road users, vehicles, infrastructure, legislation, and transport technologies, thereby reinforcing the University’s role as an application-oriented educational institution closely linked to community needs.
For its part, the Jordanian Society for the Prevention of Road Accidents noted that this partnership represents an important step toward expanding its awareness programmes, particularly within educational institutions, strengthening cooperation with universities in promoting road safety culture, and conducting studies and activities aimed at reducing traffic accidents.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Director of the Road Safety Centre of Excellence, Dr. Omar Albatayneh, and the Assistant Director, Ms. Nelly Abbadi.
