As part of its commitment to community partnership and in alignment with the strategic plan of the German Jordanian University (GJU), the Supporting Services Department / Community Service and Development Division, in cooperation with the Directorate of Education in Madaba – Educational Counseling Department, organized a specialized training workshop for school counselors titled “Electronic Addiction and Its Negative Impact on Our Communities.” The workshop was held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, as part of the second phase of the joint training program.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Director of Education for the Qasabat Madaba District, Dr. Yousef Abu Al-Khail, who highlighted the dangers of electronic addiction on students, families, and society. He emphasized the importance of such expert-led workshops in enhancing counseling practices and exchanging expertise. Dr. Abu Al-Khail expressed his appreciation to GJU for its continuous collaboration, noting that this event builds on previous successful joint initiatives.
From GJU’s side, Eng. Bara Qudah, Director of the Supporting Services Department, stressed that such initiatives reflect the university’s commitment to community service, especially in topics that impact student behavior. He noted that training counselors enables them to transfer valuable knowledge and skills to students effectively.
Also in attendance was Mr. Hael Al-Hilalat, Head of the Community Service Division, who reaffirmed the university’s dedication—through its leadership—to supporting the local community and strengthening the education sector as part of its strategic vision.
During the workshop, Eng. Heba Al-Hubash, a specialist in family counseling and behavior modification, delivered an interactive lecture covering the concept of electronic addiction, its causes, usage patterns, warning signs, psychological and social implications, and methods of prevention and treatment.
At the end of the event, GJU and the Directorate of Education expressed their appreciation to all participants and contributors whose efforts ensured the success of this meaningful workshop.
