The German Jordanian University (GJU), in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and as part of the activities of the RENEW MENA Network, organized the “Enti Adha” Women in Energy Career Fair. The event aimed to empower women, enhance their integration into the energy sector, and connect female job seekers with institutions and companies operating in the field. More than 300 women from across the Kingdom participated in the fair.

The event was attended by Prof. Aiman Al-Share, Dean of the School of Sustainable Systems Engineering (SSSE) at German Jordanian University (GJU), representing the President of the University, and Eng. Amani Al-Azzam, Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Representatives of partner institutions, energy-sector companies, engineers, graduates, and students interested in pursuing careers in the energy sector also took part.

The fair sought to strengthen partnerships among academic, governmental, and international institutions to support women’s professional empowerment and align their skills with labor market needs. These efforts contribute to increasing women’s participation in the energy sector and expanding opportunities for their professional growth and advancement.

Eng. Amani Al-Azzam emphasized the importance of collaboration among government entities, academic institutions, and the private sector in providing networking and professional engagement opportunities for women. She stressed the need to continue implementing initiatives that enhance women’s participation in the labor market and support the development of sustainable career pathways.

For his part, Prof. Ayman Al-Share highlighted the significance of initiatives that bring together academia and industry, noting their role in enhancing students’ and graduates’ readiness for the labor market and supporting their career development. He reaffirmed German Jordanian University’s commitment to supporting initiatives that prepare and professionally empower young talents, particularly in the energy sector.

Meanwhile, the Senior Energy Specialist for the Middle East and North Africa at the World Bank noted that the fair represents an important opportunity to support female engineers and graduates in accessing employment opportunities based on merit and competence. She also emphasized the importance of increasing women’s representation in leadership positions within the energy sector due to its positive impact on economic development.

Prior to the fair, a preparatory workshop was conducted to strengthen participants’ professional skills and improve their readiness for the labor market. The workshop covered CV writing, job interview preparation, and a range of essential professional skills.

The event was organized by Eng. Haneen Aboud, RENEW MENA Network Liaison Officer at GJU, together with , Eng. Nadine Al-Zougha, and Eng. Hamza Ababneh from the university, in cooperation with Eng. Rasha Abu Marar from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, as part of the joint efforts to ensure the success of the initiative and achieve its objectives of supporting and empowering women in the energy sector.
