The Deanship of Student Affairs at the German Jordanian University (GJU) organized the “Arab and International Communities Day” event, with wide participation from Jordanian and international students, and in the presence of official, diplomatic, and academic representatives. Attendees included the Chairman and members of the University’s Board of Trustees, representatives of Arab and foreign embassies, cultural attachés, diplomatic missions, as well as a number of academic and administrative staff members.
The event was held in an atmosphere that reflected the cultural diversity embraced by GJU and reinforced the values of coexistence, openness, and communication among different cultures and nationalities on campus.
In his opening remarks, Professor Ala'addin Al-Halhouli, President of GJU, emphasized that “Communities Day” embodies the highest values of diversity, coexistence, and human openness, reflecting Jordan’s civilized image as a homeland of peace and love and a meeting point for cultures and peoples. He noted that differences are a source of strength and that cultural and intellectual diversity forms the foundation for creativity, innovation, and the building of modern societies.
He added that GJU’s mission is based on building bridges of cooperation and cultural and academic exchange between Jordan, Germany, and the world through applied education and global engagement, while empowering students to acquire cross-border and cross-cultural experiences and skills that contribute to preparing a generation capable of shaping the future and driving positive change.
For her part, Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, Dean of Student Affairs, affirmed that the Deanship is committed to organizing activities that enhance student integration and reinforce the values of respect, belonging, and teamwork. She noted that the cultural diversity within the GJU campus creates a rich environment for learning and building friendships.
She added that “Communities Day” serves as a platform for dialogue and cultural exchange and provides students with an opportunity to express their identities and showcase their heritage, reflecting GJU’s spirit of openness and pluralism.
The event featured cultural and artistic performances, informational booths representing several participating countries and communities, as well as traditional dishes and folkloric performances that highlighted the cultural diversity distinguishing the GJU community. The event also embodied the spirit of one university family and reflected the values of cooperation and human understanding among different cultures.
