The Center for E-Learning and Academic Performance Improvement (CeLAPI) at the German Jordanian University launched, on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, the first introductory session of the pilot program “E-Certificate – Basic Level.” A total of 21 faculty members from various schools at the university took part in the session.
The ten-week program aims to develop faculty members’ skills in digital teaching, with a focus on the effective use of the university’s learning platforms and emerging technologies in instruction. The program includes a series of training modules covering instructional design, blended learning, digital content production, interaction in online learning environments, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence. It places strong emphasis on practical skills, including the application of the ADDIE instructional design model and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to develop structured, clear, and accessible content; the use of GJU’s digital platforms such as MyGJU, Moodle, and MS Teams; the production of educational digital content including videos and interactive components; the
design of authentic assessments; and the development of a fully integrated digital learning unit as the program’s final project.
The session was led by the Center’s Director, Dr. Ziad Abu El-Rub, who stated that the program represents a core component of the university’s digital transformation strategy. He emphasized that the objective is to enhance teaching practice in alignment with modern educational standards. He added that the E-Certificate aims to empower faculty with practical skills in instructional design, blended learning, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence to support course quality and innovation in teaching.
The introductory session included active discussion and questions from participants regarding the program’s structure and implementation. Faculty members expressed strong interest in the emphasis on practical application within the university’s platforms.
The first instructional unit will begin on Sunday, 16 November 2025, marking the start of the training phase for the first cohort in the pilot cycle of the E-Certificate in E-Learning.
