In a recent educational initiative, professors and students from the Logistics Sciences Department at German Jordanian University (GJU) visited the Jordan Shipping Association to deepen their understanding of the maritime sector, particularly focusing on Aqaba port’s operations. The initiative held on Thursday, 16th of May, 2024.
They were welcomed by Capt. Mohammad Dalabieh, General Manager of the Jordan Shipping Association, who presented a comprehensive briefing on the association's pivotal role and its array of activities. The session included discussions on the maritime industry's significant contribution to the national economy and provided detailed insights into the operational dynamics of Aqaba’s ports and terminals.
A key highlight of the visit was an expert presentation on "Shipping Disruptions, The Red Sea Case," delivered by Abdulrahman Ali, a seasoned maritime industry professional and Operations Manager at Gargour Shipping. The lecture extensively covered the ongoing crisis in the Red Sea, detailing its origins, current status, and broad implications for global trade, emphasizing the strategic responses to regional disruptions.
This educational encounter was enriched by vibrant discussions that bridged academic theory with practical challenges faced by the maritime industry, particularly under current global pressures. The students applied their theoretical learning in real-time, dissecting complex logistical scenarios presented during the session.
The initiative, orchestrated by Dr. Emad Hatamleh, head of GJU’s logistics science department, along with Drs. Luay Jum'a, Omar Shubailat, Nizar Shbikat, and Omar Bawaliz, aimed to forge a robust linkage between maritime academics and industry practices. The educators praised the in-depth industry insights which significantly contributed to the students’ professional acumen.
Both Capt.
