A student delegation from the School of Applied Medical Sciences at the German Jordanian University (GJU) participated in an educational field visit organized by the Strong Water Utilities Project of GIZ Jordan to the Al-Mazar–Al-Muta Wastewater Treatment Plant in Karak Governorate. The visit also included students from Al al-Bayt University from the fields of geology, water, environment, and engineering. The activity took place during the second week of November 2025.

The visit aimed to deepen students’ understanding of wastewater treatment processes and sludge management practices, as well as to familiarize them with the role of modern facilities in promoting sustainable water management—one of the key priorities of Jordan’s water sector and an essential component of national capacity-building efforts.

During the tour, students learned about the greenhouse-based sludge drying technology and were briefed on upcoming plans to enhance sludge management in Jordan. The program also included a specialized presentation on the water sector, followed by an interactive Q&A session with experts from GIZ Jordan, the Jordan Water Authority, and Aqaba Water Company, giving students valuable insights into the challenges and innovations within the wastewater sector.

GJU’s participation in this visit reflects its commitment to strengthening applied education, connecting students with real-world field experiences, and supporting partnerships with national and international institutions active in the water and environmental sectors.
