The German Language Center (GLC) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) held its first orientation session for new students of the 2025/2026 academic year as part of the German I Pre-Course. The session aimed to introduce students to the university’s unique German dimension and prepare them for integration into a bilingual and bicultural academic environment.
This session, held twice annually, is part of the university’s early academic preparation for new students. It introduces them to the mandatory academic year program in Germany, German language courses offered at the university, and opportunities for scholarships, academic pathways, and career prospects. The first session took place on September 15, while the second is scheduled for September 29.
The session featured a presentation by Jacqueline Rogler, Director of the GLC, and Eman Asenwar, GLC Coordinator and Student Advisor. Rogler emphasized the importance of gradual learning in the German language, noting that achieving level B2 proficiency is a prerequisite for participating in the academic year program in Germany. She also highlighted the center’s ongoing efforts to develop its programs to better support students in attaining the required language proficiency.
For her part, Asenwar explained that this session represents an opportunity to strengthen direct communication with students from their first day at the university and to provide them with information and guidance that help them benefit from the available academic and cultural support resources.
The event also included interactive segments featuring contributions from current students and alumni, including Qusai Abu Hujleh from the B2 track, and alumni Musab Asenwar and Eman Asenwar. They shared their personal experiences in learning German and studying in Germany, offering practical and realistic advice to help new students make the most of this unique academic and cultural journey.
The session concluded with an open discussion, giving students the opportunity to ask questions. The discussion was attended by Jacqueline Rogler, Eman Asenwar, and Silvie Zeller, coordinator of the B1 German language course. All of them reaffirmed the center’s commitment to supporting students both academically and linguistically throughout their journey at the university.
