The Deanship of Student Affairs at the German Jordanian University organized a dialogue seminar during the visit of The Youth National Dialogue Initiative Committee in the Senate to the university. The event brought together members of the committee with the Student Council, student clubs, and a number of individuals interested in political and national dialogue. The aim was to open discussions on issues of concern to youth across educational, economic, political, and security fields.
At the start of the meeting, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Thelal Owais, welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of such dialogues, especially in light of the current political and security challenges facing Jordan.
For her part, Committee Chair, Senator Dr. Mahasen Al-Jaghoub,, expressed her pleasure in visiting the university, stressing that such meetings aim to enhance the role of youth in the political scene and to listen to their political and partisan views. She added, “We are the second legislative body in the country, and everything that concerns you is of interest to us.” She praised the research-oriented and innovative spirit of the university’s students, describing it as a national necessity to drive modernization and development.
Committee member Hussein Al-Hawatmeh affirmed that the professional security policies adopted by the Kingdom have significantly contributed to maintaining the nation's security and stability. He explained that some security measures, although they may seem strict at times, remain the best option to protect Jordan from any threats that could impact its security, economy, or educational progress.
Committee member Prof. Wajih Owais also highlighted the distinction achieved by GJU, noting that employment opportunities for its graduates surpass those of other universities, thanks to its academic programs tied to labor market needs and the hands-on training opportunities available to students—particularly through programs that allow them to study and train in Germany. This, he said, contributes to refining their skills and boosting their readiness for the job market.
The session witnessed a lively discussion between students and committee members, addressing the importance of raising political and cultural awareness among youth, unifying national discourse, and increasing engagement with domestic politics. Participants also discussed the challenges facing Jordan, political party programs, and ways to promote them effectively.
At the conclusion of the meeting, committee members answered student questions, stressing the importance of political awareness in building societies and the vital role of youth in advancing Jordan. They underscored the need to invest in scientific research and apply its results in practice to support the national economy.
