The President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, inaugurated Muqarnas in the School of Architecture and the Built Environment (SABE) - Jabal Amman. Muqarnas was designed by faculty member Prof. Muhammad Yaghan and implemented by Dr. Yaghan, Eng. Regan Ashour, and students of the Calligraphy and Decoration course.
During the ceremony, Prof. Al-Halhouli, in the presence of the Vice President Prof. Malek Alsharairi, and the Dean of SABE, Dr. Omaimah Al-Arja, pointed out the importance of the School of Architecture, its status, the role of its professors, their distinction in education and their national, regional and international achievements, encouraging the team to establish Muqarnas at the main campus university in Al-Mshaqar.
For his part, Dr. Yagan explained the nature of the Muqarnas and its importance in Islamic architecture, art, and culture, while Dr. Al-Arja presented the new vision of SABE, the importance of the Muqrans, and the way it is implemented educationally through teamwork.
In turn, the student Evan Genev from Germany spoke about the cultural exposure he experienced during the course, while the student Jana Nawar talked about the projects they worked on and Eng. Ashour appreciated the efforts of the participants in the work and the supporters of its implementation.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Al-Halhouli toured the students' work exhibition and listened to an explanation from Dr. Yaghan and the students about Muqarnas, its historical role, its design characteristics, and the specificity of the project in the School.
