This year’s network meeting of the School of Applied Medical Sciences (SAMS) was hosted by Beuth Hochschule Berlin from 15th until 16th of November 2018. GJU’s vice president Prof. Dr. Atef Kharabsheh joined the meeting together with SAMS’ dean Dr. Adnan Lahham, exchange coordinator Prof. Dr. Samer Gharabli and network coordinator Stefanie Kirsch.

Kharabsheh explained the German dimension of GJU to the network members and invited the president of Beuth Hochschule Prof. Monika Gross and the newly elected network head Prof. Kay-Uwe Kasch to visit GJU in 2019.

Presentations about upcoming BA and MA programs at the School of Applied Medical Sciences were held and replenished by curricula advices given by professors from HTW Dresden, HS Anhalt, UAS Rhein-Waal and Beuth Hochschule who also presented their respective study programs.

Accreditation took a major part in the vital discussions of the network enabling Prof. Dr. Marina Vogel from HTW Dresden to contribute her valuable expertise with different German accreditation agencies and give useful hints to her colleagues at SAMS.

The meeting was summed up by shared experiences of professors about their Flying Faculty visits to SAMS during the last year and gave a positive impression on the level of engagement, participation and knowledge of GJU students which also encouraged other German professors to participate in the Flying Faculty program and invite academic and administrative staff from GJU to their own universities.

As supporting program two company visits to Eckert & Ziegler in Berlin-Buch and BAYER AG in Berlin-Wedding were organized and gave all participants deeper insights into the laboratories of German pharma and health care industry.
