A student delegation from the German Jordanian University (GJU) recently visited Maersk Global Shipping and Logistics Company. The visit was part of the "Warehouse Management" course at the School of Business at the university, and the students were accompanied by Dr. Hassan Younis, a faculty member of the college during the tour.
During the visit, the students toured the company's warehouses, where they learned about the various services offered by Maersk, including different storage solutions and types of storage racks. They also received a detailed explanation of the operations within the warehouses, such as receiving, storing, and shipping, including the storage of humanitarian relief materials. The students were introduced to important safety and precautionary measures, as well as the modern machinery and forklifts used for transporting, storing, and loading goods.
The students also toured the "Suraqia" yard, where they learned about the types of containers, as well as methods for maintaining, storing, and handling them. They were briefed on the advanced warehouse management system used by the company to manage inventory and track the movement of goods both inside and outside the warehouses, until delivery to the customer.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Younis thanked the Maersk Global Shipping and Logistics team, who, in turn, welcomed the visit and expressed their eagerness for further cooperation between the university and the company.
