In the context of the DAAD funded project “Introducing Data Literacy at GJU (IDL@GJU)”, as part of the dissemination event, several groups including German and GJU professors visited seven Jordanian universities to introduce the importance of data literacy and share the project outcomes with them.
The visit also aimed at investigating the possibilities on integrating data literacy competencies in their study curricula based on GJU experience and elaborating on potential collaboration opportunities in the context of data literacy.
The groups visits targeted seven universities including University of Jordan (UJ), Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Yarmouk University (YU), Hashemite University (HU), Technical Tafila University (TTU), Princess Sumya University of Technology (PSUT), and Zarqa University (ZU). The visits were clustered between four groups.
In particular, Prof. Dr. Rainer Herpers and Dr. Mustafa Shawaqfeh visited YU and JUST. Prof. Dr. Christina B. Class, Dr. Amani Abu Jabal, and Ms. Nadine Kutz vistied UJ and PSUT. Prof. Julia Schnitzer and Dr. Abdullah Alfarrarjeh visited HU and ZU. Also, Prof. Dr. Paul Grimm, Prof. Dr. Jan-Torsten Milde, Prof. Dr. Frank Klingert, and Dr. Dhiah el Diehn Abou-Tair visited TTU.
Through all visits, the project notion was welcomed by the hosts in the seven universities. Also, collaboration ideas on data literacy were discussed through a follow-up project given the IDL@GJU was a pilot project with target of an extension to include all other Jordanian universities.
