The German Energy Academy (GEA) in Jordan at the German Jordanian University (GJU) celebrated the graduation of the second batch of the Energy Efficiency Program students in the presence of the Dean of the School of Natural Resources Engineering and its Management (SNREM), DrQasem Abdelal, on behalf of GJU President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, the Director of the Academy, Eng. Hamzeh Al-Buqaei, ​​the Project Coordinator, Dr. Aiman Al-Batayneh, representatives of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU).

During the ceremony, Dr. Abdelal-Al gave a welcoming speech in which he praised the efforts of GJU team and all the partners involved, indicating the importance of the project and the many opportunities it provides.

For his part, Eng. Al-Buqaei expressed his happiness in seeing the successive achievements of the Academy, including the graduation of a new batch of qualified students trained on the latest concepts and practices in the field of Energy Efficiency.

On the other hand, Dr. Al-Batayneh congratulated the students on their graduation after completing 240 accredited training hours, consisting of 80 theoretical hours and 160 practical hours, indicating that the students learned through the course about the laws and regulations in Jordan, received training on methods of energy auditing, energy audit in economic calculations, and monitoring energy consumption and devices, in addition to being able to implement energy efficiency in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings following the Jordanian professional competence standards for the profession of energy auditing and management.

Furthermore, student Ahmad Al-Batayneh gave a graduation speech on behalf of his colleagues, in which he thanked the Academy and GJU team for their dedication throughout the program. At the end of the ceremony, certificates were handed over to the graduates.

 

It is worth mentioning that the GEA in Jordan is distinguished by being the first Academy of its kind in the field of renewable energies, not only in Jordan but also in the Middle East and North Africa region, as the Academy comes with a Jordanian academic cadre and German expertise. 

This project is the latest of a series of projects and activities that testify to the dedication of GJU and its schools to empowering local communities and building their capacities.
