Amman, Jordan – October 2, 2024. The German Jordanian University (GJU), through its Center for E-Learning and Academic Performance Improvement (CeLAPI), successfully concluded a comprehensive four-day training course titled “Digital Transformation in Teaching and Learning at GJU.” The course, which spanned 16 hours from September 29 to October 2, 2024, aimed to equip GJU faculty members with essential skills and knowledge to leverage digital tools, e-learning platforms, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their teaching practices.
The training course was conducted at the Activity Hall F at GJU and attended by around 40 faculty members, who actively engaged in the interactive sessions. The course provided participants with a solid understanding of CeLAPI’s new strategic action plan, effective utilization of Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle, MyGJU, and Microsoft Teams, and best practices for e-learning. Furthermore, the attendees explored the potential applications of AI in education to enhance content delivery, automate assessments, and create more engaging learning environments.
The President of GJU, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, visited the training sessions and highlighted the significance of these professional development opportunities. He emphasized the need for continuous upskilling of faculty members to remain abreast of technological advancements and innovative teaching methodologies. Prof. Al-Halhouli reiterated that such initiatives not only contribute to faculty excellence but also enhance the overall learning experience for students, thereby positioning GJU as a leader in digital education.
Dr. Ziad Abu El-Rub, Director of CeLAPI and the primary instructor of the course, outlined CeLAPI’s strategic initiatives aimed at supporting faculty development and promoting academic performance. He expressed his satisfaction with the active participation and positive feedback received from faculty members, noting that the training marked a significant step toward the digital transformation of teaching and learning at GJU.
The training also featured sessions led by Prof. Ala' Khalifeh, President Advisor and Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department, and Dr. Samer Alabed, Director of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Department. Prof. Khalifeh’s sessions focused on the fundamentals of AI and the integration of AI-powered tools for personalized tutoring and adaptive learning, while Dr. Alabed introduced best practices in e-learning and the creation of interactive media.
The course will be followed by the issuance of certificates of completion upon successful submission of a practical task related to the training, ensuring that participants have effectively applied the knowledge and skills gained during the sessions.
